Burner repair service quoted $250-$300 to replace. Got part in 3 days, did the install while I changed out new water supply line and shut off valve. Also freed up 2 other frozen valves with some Mystery oil, lite tapping and patience. Told cost 2 hrs.of my time and $48.50. Great job on suppling the valve.

I have an Aprilaire 550 and the plastic housing has a recess where the original solenoid sat. This solenoid would not fit into that recess in the same orientation. I fixed this by going to the hardware store and buying two #8 5/8" long screws and two 1/4" long plastic spacers. Now I'm back in business!

I thought it was a brand X valve but it turned out to be a Robert Shaw. A great name In electronic valves. Great service. Received it in two days. I recommend this site.

It was an easy homeowner installation/replacement. However, the orientation of the mounting bracket and the inlet valve was different than what I was replacing. With the mounting holes facing up, the inlet and outlet need to be facing you for the inlet to be on the left. What I was replacing had the inlet and outlet away from you when the inlet is on the left. The result of that was that the inlet and outlet were moved from their original location by the width of the valve, about 3 inches. i didn't want to try to turn the mount 180 degrees on the body of the solenoid and break it, and there was room to bend the inlet and outlet lines enough to make it work so I just did that. Something to consider if installed in a tight location. It works, and water is flowing again, so I have a humidifier that works for $29 with shopping. I rated 4 stars since it was not an exact replacement, but it works. if you an turn the mount and I missed that, it would be 5 stars.

I used the 4040-001 valve as a replacement for an Aprilaire 550 humidifier. Works perfectly! Many thanks to McCombs Supply for prompt shipping even in the middle of the holiday season.
