Pizza! Pizza!

Okay, I admit it. The first thing that entered my mind when I heard it was  National PIzza Day, or in the hash tag trending world of Twitter and Instagram #nationalpizzaday was the old Little Caesars Pizza advertisements with the little guy saying, "PIzza! Pizza!"

Childish, yes. Effective, absolutely. 

My next thought was, "Why didn't I hear about National Pizza Day on ads for  Pizza Hut or Dominos, surely these national chains would promote a day dedicated to their No.1 selling product. Heck, the word is in Pizza Hut's name. 

Some Pizza facts:

• Pepperoni is the most popular pizza at 36% of all pies ordered.
• More than 3 billion pizzas are sold in the USA each year. Add another 1 billion on frozen pizzas.
• 17% of all US Restaurants are pizzerias.
