McCombs Appliance Parts Tournament hits the home stretch with its Final Four

Who had these teams in their Final Four bracket?

In a wild week of sales, four appliance parts emerged from last week's head-to-head  "Sweet 16" Appliance Parts Tournament at McCombs Supply Co., Inc.

Much like the NCAA Men's and Women's Basketball tournaments, this appliance parts competition matches parts together in seeds. The top-selling model each week in this head-to-head competition will advance in the tourney, and sales during the week (from Wednesday to Wednesday each week) determine which item advances. 

The  tournament bracket started with 16 dryer, refrigeration and cooking parts.

Exact sales numbers will not be published and purchase totals will be referenced in general, creative terms for McCombs, a reliable, family-owned appliance parts retailer since 1953.

The following is a look at the match ups for the final four parts. Consumers will determine the winner by purchases of these parts during the next seven days. 

No. 1 seed R403 Oven Igniter VS. No. Seed 15 279816 Whirpool Dryer Thermostat Thermal Fuse

 The No. 15 Seed  279816 Whirpool Dryer Thermostat Thermal Fuse is the Cinderella of the tourney. 

Last week it pulled off a major upset by beating the higher-seeded No. 2 seed AR5066 Igniter.

The dyer part is a safety thermostat. If the dryer gets too hot, the the thermostat will turn off the dryer to prevent the dyer from getting any hotter. It sells for the reasonable price of $4.30.

The 3390291 thermostat is included in 2 kits offered, the other kit is number 279769 and in that kit it includes a 352*F thermal fuse, when replacing both pieces at the same time, << it is important >> to replace a 309/325 w/ a 309/325 (279816) or a 352 w/ a 352 (279769).

If the Thermal fuse continues in the tournament, it will have knocked off the No.1, No. 2 and No.3 seeds, a feat that has never happened before.
